Wow! Momo announces ₹10 lakh compensation, lifetime salary for victims’ families of Anandpur fire

Wow! Momo expressed deep grief over the death of three people, including two of its employees and a contracted security guard, in a devastating warehouse fire at Anandpur in Kolkata. The company said the fire broke out around 3 am on January 26 after flames from a neighbouring warehouse spread into its premises, leading to the complete destruction of one warehouse.

In a statement, the company said the fire reportedly originated due to unauthorised cooking at the neighbouring warehouse and rapidly engulfed its facility. Calling the incident a personal and emotional loss, Wow! Momo said it had lost not only valued members of its workforce but also a part of its spirit.

The company said it has met the families of all three deceased persons and assured them of lifelong support. Beyond statutory and government benefits, Wow! Momo announced a lump-sum compensation of ₹10 lakh to each family, a lifetime monthly salary for the bereaved families, and full educational support for the children of the deceased.

Reiterating that its employees are its biggest asset, the company said no compensation could truly make up for such a loss but pledged to ensure that the families are taken care of for life. It also stated that it is fully cooperating with administrative and government authorities in all ongoing investigations and appealed to people to keep the affected families in their prayers.
