Y+ Security cover for Shah Rukh Khan's safety amid growing threats

The Maharashtra government has reportedly upgraded Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan's security cover to Y+ category, citing recent potential threats to the superstar. The decision to enhance his security measures comes in response to perceived "imminent and probable" threats against the actor.

Shah Rukh Khan had lodged a formal complaint with the Maharashtra government, reporting a series of death threat calls he received following the release of his recent films, 'Pathan' and 'Jawan'. As part of this elevated security detail, Shah Rukh Khan will be accompanied by six police commandos at all times.

These armed bodyguards will be sourced from the special protection unit of the Maharashtra Police. Security coverage will extend nationwide, with the personnel equipped with MP-5 machine guns, AK-47 assault rifles, and Glock pistols. Furthermore, Shah Rukh Khan's residence will have round-the-clock protection from four armed policemen.

Shah Rukh Khan is currently riding high on the success of his consecutive blockbuster films, 'Pathaan' and 'Jawan,' with 'Jawan' grossing Rs 618.83 crore in India and Rs 1,103 crore globally, while 'Pathaan' collected Rs 543.05 crore in India and Rs 1,050.3 crore worldwide.

The actor's fans eagerly anticipate his upcoming release 'Dunki,' a comedy-drama directed by Rajkumar Hirani and co-starring Taapsee Pannu, Dia Mirza, and Boman Irani. The film's shooting spanned multiple international locations, including Mumbai, Kashmir, London, Budapest, Jeddah, and Neom, making 'Dunki' the first film ever shot in Neom. The worldwide theatrical release is scheduled for December 22, 2023, while Indian audiences can catch it a day later.
