Bengal Govt elevates IPS Ajay Mukund Ranade to DGP (Law and Order)
The security arrangements for senior Trinamool Congress leaders Anubrata Mondal, Kajal Sheikh and former minister Chandranath Sinha have been reduced following a revision by district authorities. The revised security measures reportedly came into effect from Tuesday night, according to district police sources.
Police sources said Anubrata Mondal had earlier been provided Y-plus category security after being appointed convenor of the Trinamool Congress core committee. A house guard had also been deployed at his residence. Under the revised arrangement, his Y-plus security cover has been withdrawn and he will now be accompanied by only one armed security guard.
Authorities also removed the pilot and escort vehicles earlier assigned to Anubrata Mondal. The revised arrangement marks a significant reduction in the level of security previously provided to the Birbhum Trinamool leader. Police sources confirmed that the changes were implemented as part of a broader review of security deployment.
Kajal Sheikh, the Sabhadhipati of the Birbhum Zilla Parishad, had also been receiving high-level security arrangements earlier. According to police sources, his pilot vehicle, escort arrangement and house guard have now been withdrawn. As an MLA and Sabhadhipati, he will now receive security cover from two armed personnel.
Former minister Chandranath Sinha’s security arrangement has also been reduced. During his tenure as a minister, he had been provided with a house guard, pilot vehicle and security personnel. Following the revision, he will now receive protection from two armed security guards in his capacity as an MLA.
