Bidhannagar Mayor Krishna Chakraborty resigns, another massive blow to TMC
In a significant shift toward the governance models of other BJP-ruled states, West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has announced the launch of a "Janata Darbar" (People’s Court) starting June 1, 2026. Inspired by the successful initiatives of Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath and Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi, Adhikari intends to meet directly with common citizens once or twice a week to listen to their grievances.
High-ranking administrative officials will be present during these sessions to ensure that complaints are assessed and acted upon immediately, effectively bypassing the traditional "net of rules" and bureaucratic delays that often stall public petitions at Nabanna.
The Chief Minister’s decision follows his record of emphasizing "people-first" governance since taking the oath on May 9, 2026. Adhikari noted that many citizens feel their concerns never reach the highest levels of government due to administrative complications. By establishing a direct connection, he aims to restore public trust in the state machinery and ensure that developmental promises reach the grassroots level.
