Young man murdered in Jharkhand; family demands police investigation

On Tuesday morning, 24-year-old Sakendra Sahu was found murdered in his home in the Khammadih area of Satbarwa. Family members discovered his lifeless body on the porch, covered in blood, with three severe wounds on his head, indicating a brutal attack likely involving a sharp weapon. The tragedy has left the local community in a state of disbelief and mourning.

Sakendra had returned home after dinner at his old residence on Monday night. After spending time with family, he retired to his newly constructed home, where he was last seen alive. The murder is believed to have occurred around 4 AM. The discovery of his body suggests a violent confrontation; it appears Sakendra was attempting to escape during the attack, as his body was found near a pillar, indicating a struggle took place.

Upon learning of the murder, family members and local residents expressed outrage and demanded immediate police intervention. They insisted that a senior police official and a sniffer dog be brought to the scene to conduct a thorough investigation. This demand led to a tense standoff, with community members refusing to allow the body to be moved for over four hours. Station in-charge Anchit Kumar eventually arrived to calm the situation and facilitated the transfer of the body for a post-mortem examination at MRMCH Medininagar.

Investigators are currently exploring possible motives behind Sakendra's murder, with initial reports suggesting it may be linked to ongoing family disputes over land and financial matters. Sakendra had a history of disagreements with his father, Suresh Sahu, regarding property issues, and a significant argument is reported to have occurred on the night prior to the murder. The police are scrutinizing Suresh, who was not at home during the attack, raising questions about his potential involvement.

Sakendra was known in the community for his hard work, running a puncture repair shop along the Daltonanj-Ranchi main road. He was dedicated to supporting his family and had two younger siblings—one of whom is currently imprisoned on drug-related charges. The family's strained dynamics, exacerbated by Suresh's alleged extramarital affair and subsequent separation from Sakendra's mother, have contributed to ongoing tensions, further complicating the investigation.
