Mamata choses Dorina crossing for July 21 rally despite police allowing Brigade ground as venue
A serious allegation of kidnapping and attempted rape of a minor girl has surfaced in Baruipur, leading to the immediate arrest of the accused youth, identified as Samad Ali. The minor girl, originally a resident of the Barrackpur area, had traveled to Sealdah station without informing her family members. While she was roaming around the station alone, the accused noticed her and initiated a conversation. He subsequently lured the minor into boarding a train to Baruipur by promising her good food if she accompanied him to his residence.
The accused brought the minor girl to his rented accommodation in Baruipur and confined her inside the house, where he allegedly attempted to rape her. Hearing the victim's frantic screams, residents quickly gathered at the spot and managed to rescue the minor successfully. The community members immediately alerted the local police authorities, who arrived promptly at the location and took the accused, Samad Ali, into custody. The law enforcement department has officially initiated a comprehensive investigation into the entire incident.
This new case has triggered severe tension and intense public anger across the locality, occurring just days after the Suryapur area in Baruipur witnessed widespread unrest over the rape and murder of another minor. Following that earlier incident, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had personally visited Baruipur to deliver a strong message of zero tolerance against crimes against women, which eventually led to a swift police operation where four accused were apprehended and one was killed in a subsequent encounter after attempting to shoot at the police. The fresh incident has once again put the region on high alert as police strengthen local vigil.
