A tense situation unfolded in Hooghly after a youth was accused of sexually assaulting a minor girl. According to the victim's family, they had been searching for their daughter for an extended period before her sister informed their grandmother about the child's whereabouts. The family alleges that the incident occurred on Sunday morning around 10:30 am when the accused youth allegedly took the minor victim into a bush with malicious intent and proceeded to sexually assault her.
Upon learning of the alleged crime, residents reacted with fury. They reportedly apprehended the accused youth and tied him up in a garage. Subsequently, the locals allegedly beat him with wooden sticks as a form of immediate retribution.
Responding to information about the incident and the assault on the accused, officers from the Chuchura police station arrived at the scene. They rescued the accused from the angry mob and took him into custody. Simultaneously, the minor victim was taken to the Chuchura Imambara District Hospital for necessary medical examination and treatment.
Residents of the area claimed that the accused youth was under the influence of alcohol on Saturday night, and the intoxication allegedly persisted into Sunday morning. However, the accused has denied the allegations of sexually assaulting the minor girl.
Residents offered further insight into the accused's behavior, stating, "He consumes alcohol and marijuana. The accused also visits many houses in the neighborhood. However, such allegations have not been heard before."
The Chuchura police have initiated a comprehensive investigation into the entire incident, gathering testimonies and evidence to ascertain the truth. Meanwhile, the accused youth offered a different account of the events, claiming, "I was intoxicated. I did nothing. Everyone loves the child. His father was looking for the child. But I had gone home. Suddenly, I saw him grabbing me and beating me."
