A horrific incident transpired on a Howrah-Bandel local train at approximately 8:10 PM on Sunday, triggering widespread panic among commuters. A young man allegedly forced his way into the designated women's compartment and pushed a female passenger out of the moving train. The victim, identified as a resident of Prabhash Nagar in Rishra, Hooghly, sustained severe injuries from the fall, including a fractured arm alongside critical wounds to her legs and head.
Following the incident, the injured woman was quickly rescued from the tracks and rushed to the Belur State General Hospital, where she is currently undergoing medical treatment. Acting on a formal complaint lodged by the victim, the Belur Government Railway Police (GRP) immediately initiated a criminal probe. Law enforcement personnel successfully tracked down the location of the accused youth and arrested him from the Bali railway station shortly after the incident.
The Belur GRP has officially registered an attempt to murder case against the arrested individual. Authorities plan to produce the accused before the Howrah Court to seek police custody for intensive interrogation to determine the exact motive behind his actions. While the railway police continue their investigation into the security breach, Eastern Railway authorities have not yet released an official statement regarding the matter.
