A young man was attacked in the busy Nutan Bazar area under the Jorabagan police station in Kolkata's Burrabazar on Sunday evening. The victim, Amit Sonkar alias Khargosh, was attacked with a chopper in the middle of the bustling Murgi Patti market.
The assailant, identified as Uttam Sonkar, fled the scene immediately after the attack. Eyewitnesses reported that Uttam struck Amit multiple times with a chopper in broad daylight, leaving him severely injured. Local shopkeepers rushed Amit to the Kolkata Medical College.
Preliminary investigations by Jorabagan police reveal that the attack stemmed from a longstanding grudge between the two individuals. The exact details of their dispute remain under investigation.
