A young man named Uttam Pradhan was found in a bloody state on the sidewalk in the Thakdari area, Newtown, near the road leading to Sector Five. Passers-by noticed him lying on the pavement and immediately informed the police by dialing 100.
Officers from Newtown police station rushed to the scene and rescued the severely injured man, taking him to Bidhannagar Mahakuma Hospital. According to initial reports, the police suspect that the man’s head was hit with a heavy object.
Local sources suggest that there was an attempt to dump him into the drain beside the footpath. CCTV footage in the area is being reviewed as part of the investigation, and locals are being questioned for further information.
