The body of an unidentified youth was recovered on Tuesday morning from a canal adjacent to a posh housing complex in Kolkata’s Anandapur area. Police confirmed the discovery and said a case of unnatural death has been registered. The body was sent for post-mortem to determine the exact cause of death.
A police official stated, “We are investigating the matter from all angles. Murder cannot be ruled out at this stage.” The body was located near a gated residential society, and forensic inspection of the area is underway. Officers are examining whether any injury marks are present.
Efforts are being made to identify the deceased. Police are checking missing person complaints filed in recent days and have started reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding area. Further action will be taken after receiving the post-mortem report.
