Youth tied to tree, arrested for allegedly harassing class 10 student in Howrah

A youth was tied to a tree and later arrested in Howrah’s Jagatballabhpur Patihal area for allegedly harassing a Class 10 student. The incident took place when the girl was returning home from coaching. A bike-borne man allegedly grabbed her hand and attempted to pull her. Hearing her screams, local residents intervened, overpowered the accused, and tied him to a tree before informing the police.

Officers from Jagatballabhpur police station arrived at the scene, rescued the accused, and took him into custody. The youth has been identified as Ashok Dalui. Police have recorded statements from the victim and eyewitnesses and are verifying if the accused has any prior criminal record. Officials confirmed that legal action has been initiated based on the complaint filed by the girl’s family.

Following the incident, local residents have expressed concerns over safety in the area. Police have assured strict action against the accused and urged citizens to report such incidents immediately. The investigation is ongoing to determine further details related to the case.
