Youth walks unfazed through village holding severed head, blood dripping in South 24 Pgs

On Saturday morning, a shocking incident took place in Bharatgarh village, Basanti, South 24 Parganas, when a youth walked calmly to the Basanti police station carrying a severed head. The youth was carrying the head of a woman believed to be his sister-in-law. The gruesome sight caused panic among local residents.

The youth was identified by the police as Bimal Mondal. He was arrested shortly after he reached the police station with the severed head. Police sources said preliminary investigations indicate that the woman, identified as Shachi Mondal, was killed with a cleaver, and her head was severed from the body. Local residents reported that Shachi Mondal’s husband had died about three months ago. Since then, there had been frequent disputes between her and her brother-in-law. Eyewitnesses described seeing the youth walking in the village fields holding a cleaver in one hand and the severed head in the other, with blood dripping from it. One witness said, “From a distance, I saw a young man carrying something dripping blood. When he came closer, I realized it was a woman’s head.” The witness called the police, who then arrested the youth.
