Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma granted divorce by Mumbai Family Court

Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and his wife, Dhanashree Verma, were officially granted divorce by the Mumbai Family Court on March 20, 2025. The estranged couple arrived at the Bandra Family Court at noon for the hearing of their divorce plea, following the Bombay High Court’s directive to expedite the proceedings due to Chahal’s commitments with Punjab Kings in IPL 2025.

Chahal was the first to reach the family court, while Dhanashree arrived an hour later. After a brief hearing before the Magistrate, the court granted the divorce in the afternoon, officially dissolving their four-year marriage. A lawyer present at the proceedings confirmed, "Divorce has been done. The marriage is dissolved."

Chahal and Dhanashree had tied the knot in December 2020, with their wedding making headlines due to the cricketer’s growing popularity in Indian cricket and Dhanashree’s fame as a dance choreographer and social media influencer. However, over the past year, rumors of marital discord had surfaced, with both maintaining public silence on their personal matters.

The divorce comes at a crucial time for Chahal, who is set to play for Punjab Kings in IPL 2025. The Bombay High Court had earlier instructed the family court to ensure a swift resolution, given the cricketer’s professional commitments. This intervention allowed the legal process to be fast-tracked, leading to the final verdict on Thursday.

Neither Chahal nor Dhanashree has made any public statement regarding the divorce. Both have unfollowed each other on social media, further fueling speculation about their strained relationship over the past few months. Despite their personal differences, sources close to the couple suggest that the separation was amicable, with no reported legal disputes over alimony or property division.

With the legal proceedings now concluded, Chahal is expected to fully focus on the upcoming IPL season, where he will be a key player for Punjab Kings. Meanwhile, Dhanashree is likely to continue her career as a choreographer and influencer, having already established a strong presence in the entertainment industry.
