ZPM leader Lalduhoma officially assumed the role of CM of Mizoram on Friday, following the administration of the oath of office and secrecy by Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati at the Raj Bhavan complex in Aizawl.
The swearing-in ceremony, held at 11 am, marked the culmination of Lalduhoma's political journey that began with his election as an MLA from Serchhip constituency in the Mizoram Assembly Elections 2023.
Securing a total of 8314 votes, Lalduhoma emerged victorious, garnering 2982 more votes than the second-best performer, J. Malsawmzuala Vanchhawng of the Mizo National Front.
In 2020, Lalduhoma was disqualified as an MLA under the anti-defection law. However in 2021, Lalduhoma contested by-elections as a ZPM candidate from Serchhip and emerged victorious, solidifying his political presence in the region.
ZPM, in the recently declared results, won 27 out of 40 seats in the Mizoram Assembly Elections, establishing a strong mandate to form the government in the North East Indian state.
