The Bagalur police in Tamil Nadu have arrested a taxi driver in connection with the murder of a 48-year-old female accountant in Bengaluru.
Accused Bheema Rao reportedly confessed to the police that he killed Deepa G because he was angry that she was not answering his calls and text messages.
While Deepa was working for a private company in Hosakote, the accused was a taxi driver and used to pick up and drop people working in private companies. In the past, he is said to have tried to force women traveling in his taxi to befriend him. Rao is a resident of Murugeshpalya and a native of North Karnataka. Investigation revealed that he had known Deepa and her family for more than 18 months. The victim was a single woman who used to live alone in a flat in Indiranagar, Bengaluru.
Rao fought with Deepa when he picked her up on February 27, the same day she disappeared. Jagannath, a relative of the victim, filed a complaint about the missing information on February 28. CCTV footage showed her leaving her flat at 7.35pm on February 27. Her phone has been switched off since then.
Rao confessed to strangling her and dumping her body in a suburb near Bagalur. Locals found the decomposed body and informed the police on March 5.
