Suez India and Jal Sansthan observe 52nd National Security Week by launching Project Angarnakshak. The project aims to protect the health of sanitation workers while cleaning sewer lines and will run from March 4th to March 10th.
Suez India is the agency that looks after the management and maintenance of sewers in Lucknow. Recognizing the immense contribution of sanitation fighters, the Angrakshak campaign will advocate for issues related to worker safety and health, said Rajesh Mathpal, Project Director, Suez India.
“The Angrakshak campaign has started in Bharwara STP. The campaign is being pursued to create awareness among sanitation workers about following safety procedures while performing tasks,” he said. Mathpal further said that on March 6, during the workshop, a discussion was held on major workplace hazards and accidents and their prevention, followed by a quiz competition and on-site practical exercises.
On March 7, an awareness program was organized on chlorine leakage, fire and electrical accidents through a simulated exercise. During the training, workers were also shown videos related to safety issues. On March 10, participants will be awarded prizes for the best performances and will have space to express their experiences.
