‘Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar’ box office report: Ranbir, Shraddha Kapoor-starrer makes Rs 36.59 cr in 3 days

Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor starrer Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar earned Rs 36.59 crore at the domestic box office within three days of its release. The Luv Ranjan-directed rom-com opened to Rs 15.73 crore on Wednesday, March 8.

The film collected Rs 10.52 crore on Friday and is reportedly doing well in the national chains, but is witnessing a worse performance in the mass circuits, according to trade analyst Taran Adarsh.

Taking to Twitter, Adarsh broke down the film's daily numbers and wrote, “#TuJhoothiMainMakkaar is up in national chains but down in mass circuits on Day 3… #Mumbai – #Maharashtra as well as meat pockets must come on board on Saturday – Not for a strong weekend total… Wed 15.73 kr, Thu 10.34 kr, Fri 10.52 kr. Total: ₹ 36.59 #IndianBusiness. #TJMM (sic).”

Tu Jhooti Main Makkaar is Ranbir and Shraddha's first big screen collaboration and is produced by Luv Films and Ankur Garg. It is presented by Bhushan Kumar's T-Series. The film also features Anubhav Singh Bassi and Dimple Kapadia.

Ranbir Kapoor was last seen in Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva, opposite Alia Bhatt. The film also featured Amitabh Bachchan and a cameo from Shah Rukh Khan. Directed by Ayan Mukerji, it was a blockbuster. Meanwhile, Shraddha was last seen in the 2018 horror comedy film Stree. 

Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar was released worldwide on the occasion of Holi, March 8, 2023.

Devansh Sharma said, “Ranbir and Shraddha Kapoor may not be able to achieve success in this genre like Kartik Aaryan and Nushrratt Bharuccha, but they take this film where no Luv Ranjan rom-com has gone before.”
