Power supply in Bokaro likely to improve soon

The quality of power supply in the district will gradually improve under the revamped reform-based and results-linked distribution sector scheme (RDSS), district officials and lawmakers said here on Monday.

During a meeting on RDSS at the collectorate building auditorium on Monday, DC Kuldeep Chowdhary said that the move will be taken as per the guidelines issued by the Union Power Ministry. The meeting, the first of the RDSS committee, was chaired by Dhanbad MP P N Singh while Bokaro and Gomiya MLAs Biranchi Narayan and Lambodar Mahto were present.

Chief Engineer, Power Department (Chas) D N Sahu briefed the committee members about the RDSS scheme in detail during the meeting.

He said: “Under this scheme, new electric wires, poles and smart meters would be installed after efforts were made to reduce damage to the power system, ensure quality power and replace faulty transformers among others. These works will be completed in three phases under the scheme.”

On this occasion, the Member of Parliament asked the officials to ensure a quality supply of electricity to the residents of the district and the works related to the construction of the electricity network and substations should be completed soon.

He also directed the district officials to replace damaged poles, transformers and wires and issue electricity bills to consumers on time. Singh also said that the committee should meet every three months during which the work progress/activity of RDSS regarding grievances would be reviewed.
