In a tragic incident, an inmate named Rajan Kumar was brutally assaulted by a group of prisoners and subsequently died on Tuesday at the Khagaria district jail in Bihar.
The victim hailed from Sonvarsha block in Saharsa district. Khagaria District Magistrate Alok Ranjan Ghosh confirmed the incident and informed that Rajan was taken to the Sadar hospital following the assault, where doctors declared him brought dead.
The jail administration has registered an FIR against unknown inmates in Khagaria town police station, and the cause of the assault is under investigation.
