On the auspicious occasion of Ram Navami, more than 2000 processions were taken out in almost all districts of West Bengal. Right-wing organizations have been celebrating Ram Navami with pomp in the state since before the last assembly elections. The Shri Ram Janam Utsav Samiti took out a huge procession from New Town Ram Mandir to Dum Dum Hanuman Mandir, with heavy police force deployed around the procession.
Special arrangements were made to ensure that there were no disturbances or untoward incidents during the Pad Yatra. Meanwhile, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad organized a huge procession in Islampur in Uttar Dinajpur district, with a Subhash Parikrama of the entire city organized till Nagar Maidan Club Ground. For the first time, a Ram Navami procession was organized by the Trinamool Congress Hindi-speaking cell in Howrah Sadar, which went from Kazipada Mor to Ramjanki Temple in North Howrah.
Additionally, 2000 Kumari Puja was organized on the occasion of Ram Navami, as per tradition, at Dakshineswar Ramakrishna Sangha Adapeeth. Common people from different parts of the state worshiped virgin girls as goddesses. Leader of the Opposition in the state assembly, Shubhendu Adhikari, participated in the Ram Navami celebrations at Nandigram.
