The Union Home Ministry has taken note of the violence that occurred during the Ram Navami celebrations in Howrah, West Bengal, and has requested a detailed report from the state government.
This move comes after the Home Minister, Amit Shah, spoke to Governor C V Ananda Bose to assess the situation in the violence-hit areas of the state, particularly in Howrah.
According to reports, clashes between two groups broke out on March 30 during the festivities, leading to the torching of several vehicles and the ransacking of shops in the area. The police have arrested more than 30 people in connection with the violence.
The Home Ministry's request for a detailed report indicates a growing concern about the law and order situation in West Bengal, which has been witnessing political turmoil in the run-up to the state assembly elections.
The state has seen several instances of political violence, and the central government has expressed its dissatisfaction with the state's handling of the situation.
