WB Meteorological dept. predicts braces for heat wave after heavy rains

Following days of relentless rain in West Bengal, the state is now witnessing a significant rise in temperature, with the Meteorological Department predicting a heat wave in the region.

On Friday, the department reported that the minimum temperature in the state capital of Kolkata had reached 27.7 degrees Celsius, which is three degrees above normal, while the maximum temperature was recorded at 36.5 degrees Celsius, one degree more than normal.

Areas such as Howrah, Hooghly, North and South 24 Parganas, East and West Medinipur, Purulia, Bankura, North and South Dinajpur have also been experiencing a continuous increase in temperature. In South Bengal, temperatures have been hovering between 27 and 37 degrees Celsius.

According to the Meteorological Department, the hot winds are being prevented from rising due to light clouds in the sky, resulting in a persistent humid heat. The department has also warned that a heat wave is likely to occur due to the continuous rise in temperature from next week.
