The Bidhannagar Cyber Crime Police Station has made a significant breakthrough in a loan fraud case by arresting the main accused, Suman Jana.
The case was filed by Tapas Barik, a resident of Karunamayi Awas, who alleged that an individual promised him a loan of Rs 14 lakh from the private small finance bank Ujjwala. Instead, the accused stole a total of Rs 95,000 from Barik on different occasions by giving various reasons.
Despite repeated attempts to contact the accused, Barik received no response regarding the loan. Suspecting fraud, he reported the matter to the Bidhannagar Cyber Crime Police Station on January 23, 2013. Upon investigation, the police discovered that Suman Jana was involved in the scam. The accused was subsequently arrested after a raid in Contai of East Medinipur.
Police sources have revealed that a similar case has been registered against Suman Jana in another police station in Vidhan Nagar. The accused will be presented in Bidhannagar court for trial. The arrest of the main accused in this loan fraud case is a significant victory for the Bidhannagar Cyber Crime Police Station in their efforts to combat financial fraud and protect citizens from fraudulent activities.
