5 killed in SUV-dumper collision in Kolkata, 2 BJP leaders killed in Asansol

Seven people have died in separate road accidents in West Bengal. In Kolkata, five people lost their lives when an SUV crashed into a bike and a dumper truck at a signal on VIP Road.

The accident occurred early on Monday morning near Dumdum Park. Eyewitnesses said the SUV was travelling at high speed when it hit the bike, which was stationary behind the dumper truck.

Police sources have reported that all five people in the car, including a woman, died in the accident. They are believed to have been drunk at the time. Three others were seriously injured and taken to RGKOR Hospital, where they later died. The police are investigating the incident.

In a separate incident, two BJP leaders, Bablu Singh and Mahendra Singh, died in a road accident in Asansol. The accident occurred on Sunday night near Amdiha petrol pump under Barbani police station.

The BJP leadership has expressed suspicions that the deaths were not accidental and may have been part of a political conspiracy. They have called for a CBI inquiry and have demanded CCTV footage of the accident site. The deaths come ahead of the Panchayat elections, adding to the suspicions of foul play.

The police are also investigating the incident.
