The West Bengal government has announced that the sixth edition of the "Duare Sarkar" initiative has been a huge success, with a staggering 47.2 million applications submitted and 35.9 million services provided.
The program, which began on December 1, 2021, and concluded on March 31, 2022, aimed to provide doorstep delivery of various government services to citizens.
According to a press release issued by the state government, as many as 24,414 camps were conducted during the four-month-long initiative, with 1.8 million visitors attending them. The camps were set up in various locations across the state, with the aim of providing citizens with easy access to government services.
One of the most popular services provided under the initiative was Lakshmir Bhandar, which saw 9.9 million applications being submitted. Of these, 7.9 million applications were cleared and delivered, providing much-needed financial assistance to the people of West Bengal.
Another popular service was Swasthya Sathi, which provides health insurance coverage to citizens. During the initiative, 4.5 lakh applications were submitted, and 3.4 lakh services were delivered.
The Kanyashree scheme, which provides financial assistance to young girls, also saw high demand during the initiative. Out of 1.59 lakh applications received, 1.52 lakh have been cleared, which is a service delivery rate of 96%. The government has announced that service delivery camps will continue until April 30, to ensure that all pending applications are processed.
