Days after Kailash Vijayvargiya sparked controversy over his comments comparing girls in "dirty clothes" to Shuparnakha (a mythical character from the Ramayana), Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra on Friday slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party leader, saying, "Our clothes ain't 'gandey' (dirty), your 'soch' (mentality) is."
In the latest attack, Moitra, who shared a video clip of her press briefing, tweeted: “Friday morning message for BJP leaders and devotees. We are Bengali women, we wear what we want. We eat what we want. We worship whoever we want. Our clothes are not "fancy". Your statue is 'Gandhi'."
Earlier, the Congress had demanded action against the BJP leader for insulting women. Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee women's wing president Vibha Patel said, “On one hand, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is organizing a program for Ladli Behna and on the other, senior BJP leader Kailash Vijavargiya is insulting women in a public programme. BJP leaders did not condemn or say a word against this insult to women. BJP's true attitude towards women has shown this.”
