South Bengal gets new rail connectivity: Purulia-Bankura-Howrah MEMU service inaugurated today
In a tragic incident, an ambulance from Kamarhati collided with a lorry on its way to Barrackpore from BT Road with a patient from Ariyadah.
The accident took place near Panihati Swadeshi Mor and resulted in the lorry catching fire due to the impact. Firefighters quickly reached the scene and were able to bring the flames under control.
A total of six people were injured in the accident, two of whom are reported to be in critical condition. The injured were immediately rushed to Khardah Balram Hospital and Sagar Dutta Hospital for treatment.
The accident caused a lot of commotion in the surrounding area, prompting the Khardah police station to dispatch a large number of officers to the scene to bring the situation under control.
The police also took the ambulance and the lorry into custody for further investigation.
