South Bengal gets new rail connectivity: Purulia-Bankura-Howrah MEMU service inaugurated today
In a recent incident in Shyamnagar, North 24 Parganas, there was a quarrel between the police and a group of auto drivers over the parking of autos or totos near Shyamnagar station.
The Barrackpore Commissionerate had stopped keeping autos or totos near the station due to traffic congestion, and they were only allowed to go from the post office intersection.
However, there was an altercation this morning, and a group of auto drivers allegedly beat up civic volunteers and an ASI of Jagaddal police station who arrived at the scene. As a result, four civic policemen, including one ASI, were injured in the incident.
The police are currently interrogating six to seven people regarding the incident. This is not the first time such an incident has occurred in the area, as the police have been attacked before due to disputes over parking.
