Death toll in Egra firecracker factory explosion rises to 11, confirms district police sources

The death toll in the explosion at East Medinipur's Egra firecracker factory on Tuesday has risen to 11. District police sources have confirmed this.

It is learned that nine people had died on the day of the incident itself. After that, in the early hours of Friday, Bhanu Bagh, the owner of the factory, also died in a hospital in Cuttack, Odisha.

Late last night, one more injured died in Kolkata's SSKM Hospital. His name is Rabindranath Maiti. He was a resident of Agra. In scorched condition, he was first taken to East Medinipur District Hospital from where he was referred to Kolkata's SSKM Hospital in critical condition. He was brought to the hospital with 80 per cent burns. He died after continuous treatment for the last four days.

Another remains in critical condition in the hospital. Her name is Pinky Maity. She too was engaged in making firecrackers at the time of the incident and got burnt due to the blast.
