Women candidates secure top ranks in UPSC Civil Services Examination 2022

In a remarkable achievement, women candidates have once again claimed the top three positions in the prestigious Civil Services Examination 2022, as announced by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) today.

Ishita Kishore has emerged as the topper, securing the All India Rank (AIR) 1, followed by Garima Lohia and Uma Harathi N in second and third place, respectively.

This marks the second consecutive year in which female candidates have dominated the highest ranks in one of India's most coveted examinations. The UPSC Civil Services Examination, conducted annually in three stages (Prelims, Main, and Interview), is instrumental in selecting officers for esteemed positions such as the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and other central services group A and B posts.

A total of 933 candidates have been recommended for appointment to these prestigious services after successfully completing all three stages of the selection process. The UPSC provided a breakdown of the recommended candidates according to their respective categories. Among them, 345 candidates belong to the general category, 99 candidates are from the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), 263 candidates are from Other Backward Classes (OBC), 154 candidates are from the Scheduled Castes (SC), and 72 candidates are from the Scheduled Tribes (ST).

It is important to note that the candidature of 101 recommended candidates remains provisional, as stated by the commission.

The complete list, organized according to roll numbers, has been published in the official result document. Aspiring candidates can access their results on the UPSC's official website, upsc.gov.in. Furthermore, individual marks sheets will be made available for download on the commission's website within the next 15 days.
