Tragic accident claims life of woman returning from Tarapith, leaves husband injured

 In a heart-wrenching incident, a couple from Polba met with a fatal accident while returning from Tarapith after their prayers. The unfortunate incident occurred in Shaktigarh when their motorcycle was struck by a truck from behind, resulting in the death of Lipika Hazra (48) and leaving her husband, Mahanand, injured.

The couple began their journey to Tarapith in the morning, reaching the holy site around noon to seek blessings. After spending some time relishing food and drinks, they commenced their return journey amidst rainy weather. In Shaktigarh, they paused briefly, waiting for the rain to subside, before continuing their ride.

Tragedy struck when a truck collided with their bike from behind. The impact caused Lipika to fall onto the right side of the road, where she was tragically crushed by the truck. Mahanand, thrown in the opposite direction, suffered injuries and was promptly given first aid at a nearby hospital.

Upon receiving the news, the family rushed to Shaktigarh, consumed by grief. Mahanand Hazra, known for his talent as a singer and performer in Jatra (a popular folk theater form), shared a musical bond with his wife, who was also gifted with a melodious voice.
