Virender Sehwag lends helping hand, offers free education to children of those who lost lives in Odisha train tragedy

Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag has stepped forward to extend a helping hand to the children who lost their parents in the tragic train crash that took place in Odisha.

The devastating accident involved three trains colliding in Balasore district on June 2, leaving a death toll of at least 275 people and over 900 injured. The incident shocked the nation, and Sehwag's gesture aims to provide some solace to the affected children by offering them free education.

Virender Sehwag, known for his philanthropic endeavors, has pledged to take care of the education of all the children who lost their parents in the horrific accident. He is the founder of Sehwag International School located in Silani Panakeso, Haryana, and has offered these children the opportunity to receive free education at the school's boarding facility.

The cricketer expressed his deep sorrow over the tragic event and stated that providing education to these children is the least he can do to support them in this difficult time.

In a heartfelt tweet, Sehwag said, "This image will haunt us for a long time. In this hour of grief, the least I can do is to take care of the education of children of those who lost their life in this tragic accident. I offer such children free education at Sehwag International School’s boarding facility." He also expressed his gratitude to the brave men and women involved in the rescue operations and the medical teams, as well as the volunteers who generously donated blood to help the victims.

Sehwag's noble gesture is not the first time he has shown compassion in times of distress. In 2019, following the Pulwama attack, he had vowed to fund the education of the martyrs' children, some of whom are currently studying at the Sehwag International School and excelling academically.

Meanwhile, the Railways Board has recommended a CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) probe into the tragic train accident in Balasore. Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw confirmed this development while overseeing the rescue operations at the accident site in Bhubaneshwar. The triple train accident claimed the lives of 275 people and left over 1,000 injured. The CBI investigation aims to uncover the causes and circumstances surrounding the devastating incident.
