Agarwal brothers’ murder case: Ranchi court convicts TV channel franchise

After four years of trial, Additional Judicial Commissioner Vishal Shrivastava's court convicted Lokesh Choudhary in the Agarwal brothers' murder case. The court will now decide on the amount of his sentence on June 30.

The lawyer of the civil court informed about it, saying that the order came after the examination of 19 prosecution witnesses.

Hemant Agarwal and Mahendra Agarwal were shot dead in Choudhary's office. Their bullet-riddled bodies were found on March 7, 2019, at noon, from the chamber of Choudhary, the then franchise head of a television news channel, in posh Ashok Nagar.

Hemant, who was 38 at the time of the murder, and Mahendra, who was 40 at the time of the murder, ran the courier service Pawan Air Cargo, and had arrived at the news channel's office on a scooter the day before their bodies were found. give Choudhary a loan reminder.

According to the police, Choudhary returned the money to the Agrawal brothers as planned, but his intention was wrong. He asked his bodyguards and drivers to pose as IB officers to take back the same amount from the Agarwal brothers. When their bodyguards and driver did the same, the two brothers resisted. This resulted in shootings and killings.

An FIR has been registered in this regard at the Argora police station.

Earlier on April 29 this year, Choudhary, accompanied by his bodyguards Sunil Kumar Singh and Dharmendra Kumar Tiwary, besides driver Shankar, gave a statement from Birsa Munda Central Jail. The court recorded the statements of all the accused and all the accused claimed innocence. Choudhary could not present any witness to defend him during the trial.
