The Chief Judicial Magistrate of Ranchi district, Mithilesh Kumar Singh, has rejected the bail application of Tanveer Akhtar, who is accused in a 'love jihad' case. The decision was made following the arrest of Akhtar by the Jharkhand police from Bihar.
The case emerged when a model filed a First Information Report (FIR), alleging that Akhtar had engaged in deceptive tactics by concealing his religious identity while developing a relationship with her.
The complainant, a model based in Mumbai who hails from Bhagalpur, Bihar, stated that she fell victim to Akhtar's ulterior motives when she arrived in Mumbai to pursue a career in modeling. Akhtar, who worked as a director at Yash Modelling Agency, had presented himself under a Hindu name. As their relationship grew more intimate and marriage became a topic of discussion, Akhtar disclosed his true religious identity and began pressuring her to convert.
The model promptly registered a zero FIR in Mumbai's Versova, which subsequently led to the filing of an FIR at the Gonda police station in Jharkhand's capital city. Tanveer Akhtar was apprehended by the Jharkhand police based on these charges.
In the recent court hearing, Tanveer Akhtar's bail application was dismissed by the Chief Judicial Magistrate.
