Fifty-year-old man Vijay Kumar Nirala committed suicide by coming in front of a goods train under the Jugsalai thana area on Saturday.
Nirala, who was a resident of Kadma, was a dismissed officer of Tata Steel and remained under tension after his dismissal two months ago.
Police recovered the body and sent it to the MGM Medical College mortuary for autopsy after informing the family members.
Jugsalai thana OC Kunal Kumar said they had informed the railway police about the incident to intervene, but as there was no immediate response from the railway police, they had to take action.
The OC said that the deceased committed suicide at around 11 am and that the driver of the goods train was the first to know about the incident but it was too late. He pointed out that the deceased was waiting for a train and when it approached he jumped in front of it.
The police officer said that although no record of suicide as such was found, it was a suicide.
According to the police, Nirala was placed in a senior position in the security department of a steel company and was found involved in a serious matter before being dismissed by the company.
