RSS leader shot dead by criminals in Dhanbad

RSS district Sampark Pramukh Shankar Prasad was shot dead by unknown criminals at his native village Duma under Tundi East Block, about 30.2 km from here, on Tuesday evening.

The bullet-ridden body of Shankar Prasad (55) was found in the early hours of today (Wednesday) half a kilometer from his house near the Duma graveyard.

The senior officer of East Tundi block, Krishna Kumar, reached the spot immediately after getting the information and started an investigation into the murder mystery. “The body has been sent to Dhanbad Medical College Hospital for post-mortem. Only after receiving the report would I say how many bullets were fired at him,” said senior officer Krishan Kumar.

He said proper action would be initiated after the FIR.

Sources said that Shankar Prasad was a horticulture worker in East Tundi under whom several Krishi Mitras worked. He was also a member of the Vanvasi Kalyan Kendra.

His family members said he left the house at around 9.30 pm on a bicycle wearing shorts and a T-shirt. In the morning, his bullet-riddled body was found near the village cemetery. Family members said he had a land dispute in the village and an FIR was lodged at the East police station. Shankar Prasad has three sons and two daughters.

RSS Jila Sah Seva Pramukh Rampratap Kumbhkar, a resident of East Tundi, demands the immediate arrest of the killers. He said Shankar Prasad was killed as part of the conspiracy and the police must reveal it.

The family members said that an FIR will be lodged at the police station after the post-mortem is conducted.
