WB Panchayat Election 2023 Result: TMC in unassailable lead by winning 34,560 gram panchayat seats

West Bengal's ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) appears poised for a landslide victory in the violence-hit panchayat elections.

TMC is getting signs of a huge lead in the results declared after the counting of ballots so far. Buoyed by the party leadership, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that these elections have proved that only Trinamool resides in the hearts of the people of the state.

The counting of votes has been going on since Tuesday morning after the three-phase panchayat elections in West Bengal. According to the State Election Commission (SEC), the ruling Trinamool Congress won 34,560 of the 63,229-gram panchayat seats by 11:00 am on Wednesday, while its candidates are ahead by another 705.

According to data released by the SEC, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 9,621 seats and its candidates have a lead of 169. The Communist Party of India (Marxist) won 2,908 seats and has a lead of 86-gram panchayat seats. The Congress has won 2,515 gram panchayat seats and is ahead in 71 others.

The ruling Trinamool Congress won 6,228 of the total 9,728 seats in the Panchayat Samiti, while it was leading with 218 seats. The BJP has won 960 seats and is ahead in 50 seats, while the CPI(M) has won 171 seats and is leading in another 13 seats the Congress has won 254 seats and its candidates are ahead by nine.

On the other hand, Trinamool has won 592 of the total 928 Zilla Parishad seats and is leading in the other 188 seats. BJP has won 18 seats and is leading by nine seats. The CPI(M) has won two seats and is leading by one more, while the Congress has won six seats and its candidates are leading by seven.
