Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in France on Thursday for an official two-day visit. He landed to a ceremonial welcome by French Prime Minister Élisabeth Borneo at the airport.
Immediately after his arrival, the 72-year-old leader met members of the Indian diaspora and even interacted with children to a rousing chant of "Bharat Mata Ki Jai" outside his hotel.
A woman was also seen dedicating a song to Modi after their meeting. After meeting Modi, it was observed that the excitement level of the people was sky high.
“He landed in Paris. We look forward to strengthening Indo-French cooperation during this visit. My various programs today include an interaction with the Indian community later in the evening,” Modi tweeted.
Modi's visit to France is said to be special as it marks the 25th anniversary of India-France strategic partnership. He will join French President Emmanuel Macron as the guest of honor at the French National Day celebrations.
A 269-strong Indian contingent of three services will participate in the parade. Preparations for the much-awaited celebrations are in full swing.
