Police vigil beefed up after ‘brief sighting’ of interpolated ‘Tiranga’ in Palamu

Police patrolling was further strengthened in the areas under Chainpur Police Station in Palamu after an interpolated similar 'Tiranga' printed with a line in Arabic of a certain faith was spotted along with a sword.

The incident reportedly took place at Semra under Chainpur police station last evening for a brief moment during a Muharram procession.

The local police immediately intervened, but by then the highly objectionable flag had disappeared from the scene.

The episode might have gone unnoticed if someone hadn't made a clip of it and made it viral.

Assistant Superintendent of Police and SDPO Rishabha Garg said, “The law will be enforced against those who have committed the crime. There will be stricter action against the offender or offenders. Police in Palamu are very strict, there will be no leniency.”

Well-known civil society activist Mumtaz Ahmad Khan said in his reaction, “We condemn such things. It is unacceptable. It is highly undesirable. There is no justification for such a deviation. It's a big mistake.

The law of the land is there to deal with it. An occasion like Muharram has its sanctity. Such things put Muharram in a bad light."
