James Anderson eager to play in India after poor run in Ashes 2023

Veteran England pacer James Anderson has expressed his unwavering desire to be part of the 2024 tour of India despite facing criticism in the recently concluded Ashes Test series against Australia.

The fast bowler had a somewhat lackluster performance during the four Ashes Tests in 2023, managing to secure just five wickets.

Anderson believes that next year's tour of India could be a great opportunity to hopefully make a strong comeback and contribute effectively to the team. Whenever he was part of the team that toured India, Anderson proved impressive, picking 34 wickets at an average of 29.32. Anderson shared his thoughts through his Telegraph column and expressed his intention to take a short break.

The experienced bowler has understood the importance of rest to regain form and plans to evaluate his performance and physical condition in the coming months. He further noted that although he was not happy with his contributions in the recent Ashes series, he believes he has a lot to offer the team in the upcoming tour of India.

“I said in the chats I had with England that I didn't contribute as much as I wanted to on the field in this series, but I feel I have a lot to offer the team when they go somewhere like India in the new year. Anderson wrote. But the England legend's selection fate rests with the selectors after his dismal run in the Test series against Australia. Anderson plans to return to the field in October and aims to travel to the subcontinent.

Considered one of the all-time greats, Anderson will be hoping to break the 700-wicket mark when England take on Rohit Sharma.

In 183 Test matches, Anderson took 690 wickets, the most of any pacer in the history of the sport. England drew the Test series 2–2 against Australia but were unable to claim the urn.
