President Droupadi Murmu is likely to meet tribal couple Bomman and Bellie, who were featured in the Oscar-winning documentary 'The Elephant Whisperers', during her visit to Theppakadu elephant camp in Mudumalai Tiger Reserve in Nilgiris district of Tamil Nadu on Saturday.
The President will also interact with other indigenous tribes in the locality. President Murmu felicitated Bomman and Bellie, the protagonists of the Oscar-winning documentary 'The Elephant Whisperers', at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in June this year. The President also praised a couple from the Kattunayakan tribe for dedicating their lives to caring for orphaned baby elephants.
According to the itinerary, Murmu is scheduled to arrive in Mysuru, Karnataka on a special flight from Delhi and reach Masinagudi by helicopter.
The state forest department had earlier ordered a ban on entry of tourists to the Mudumalai elephant camp till August 5 in view of the President's visit.
Meanwhile, the district administration was busy with arrangements. A helicopter trial was held in Masinagudi on Thursday ahead of the President's visit.
