Vineta Soren, first tribal woman from India to summit Everest, among 15 to attend summiteers’ meet in Ranchi on Aug 20

For the first time in the country, 15 Mount Everest climbers from across India will gather in Ranchi on August 20. All climbers will share their experiences at the Everest Summit organized by Ideate Inspire Ignite Foundation & Central Coal Limited (CCL) and supported by Modern Pythian Games.

The summit will feature climbers from Jharkhand – Premalata Agarwal, Vinita Soren and Hemant Gupta; from Uttar Pradesh – Satyarup Siddhanta; from West Bengal - Arunima Sinha; from Jammu and Kashmir – Colonel Ranveer Jamwal; from Madhya Pradesh – Megha Parmar; from Karnataka – Priyanka Mohite; from Maharashtra – Manisha Waghmare, Kuntal Joisher; and from Gujarat – Aditi Vaidya and Anuja Vaidya.

The summit is being organized with CCL support by Ignite Foundation founder and TEDxKanke organizer Rajeev Gupta, who said at a press conference today that it is a matter of pride for all of us that 15 climbers are coming together for the first time in Ranchi. The event is being held on the occasion of completing 70 years of conquering Everest. All climbers will share stories of courage, experience and victory during their ascents. The goal of the summit is to show the youth how even seemingly impossible peaks can be conquered with courage.

Gupta also mentioned that in 1953, for the first time in the world, two people, Edmund Hillary from New Zealand and Tenzing Norgay from Darjeeling, conquered Everest. The height of Everest is 8,848 meters.

Rajeev Gupta, Kanishka Poddar, Praveen Rajgadhia, Kanika Malhotra, Alok Kumar, Amit Modi, Preeti Gupta and Bharat Agrawal were present at the press conference.
