In a disturbing incident that unfolded in the Kasba area of Kolkata, an altercation over the improper disposal of garbage has escalated into an episode of gunfire. The dispute revolved around a local resident, Soumit Mandal, who had allegedly been regularly dumping garbage on Baikunthghosh Road, causing considerable annoyance to the community.
Local residents, who were members of a nearby club, decided to protest against this ongoing issue after yet another dumping incident occurred at around 8:30 pm on Tuesday evening. The situation took a dangerous turn at approximately 11 pm, when the same individual confronted the club members and reportedly started firing.
Distressed by this escalation, the club members promptly filed a complaint with the Kasba police station, leading to an official investigation into the matter. In addition to the garbage disposal problem, the accused had previously put press and police stickers on his car, apparently to scare his neighbours. Allegations of inappropriate behavior towards women were also raised.
Following the formal complaint lodged at the Kasba police station, authorities apprehended the individual responsible for the gunfire, taking him into custody for further questioning and investigation.
