ED raids house of WB Food Minister Rathin Ghosh

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) in West Bengal raided the house of Food Minister Rathin Ghosh on Thursday morning. This raid was conducted in a case related to illegal appointments in the municipality from 2014 to 2018. Rathin was the president of Madhyamgram Municipality for a long time. Rathin was given a place in the Mamata Banerjee cabinet after coming to power for the third time in 2021.

ED raided the house of Food Minister at Michael Nagar at around 6 am on Thursday. This action has been going on for about three hours.

Along with Food Minister Rathin Ghosh, 10 to 12 teams of the Central Investigation Agency have raided a total of 12 places including Barahnagar, Salt Lake. ED also raided the house of Trinamool Town Chairman of Kamarhati Municipality Gopal Saha. Apart from this, the house of Barahnagar Municipality President is also being searched.

According to ED sources, Rathin Ghosh was mentioned in the documents seized from the house of Ayan Sheel, accused in the recruitment corruption case. Earlier in June last year, ED had raided a total of 14 places including 12 municipalities and collected documents related to the recruitment corruption case. Coincidentally, there is a Raj Bhavan campaign program under the leadership of Trinamool's All India General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee on Thursday itself.
