In a tragic incident, a man has been apprehended in connection with the murder of a woman in Burtolla. The accused, identified as Soumik Chattopadhyay, was arrested in Kalimpong after the incident that transpired on the evening of October 11. The accussed, reportedly broke into a residence in Rai Bagan Street within the jurisdiction of Burtolla police station.
As he attempted to exit, Meenakshi's son intervened, resulting in an alleged knife attack by Soumik. Following the assault, Soumik concealed the weapon in his pocket and fled to North Bengal on his motorcycle.
Police investigations unveiled that Soumik had an extramarital relationship with Meenakshi, who sought to end the affair, leading to heated arguments. Initial findings suggest that the murder occurred in a fit of anger.
