Police take action in response to mishandling of India-South Africa World Cup tickets

Kolkata Police has taken action in response to a complaint regarding ticketing concerns for the upcoming World Cup match between India and South Africa. The Maidan Police Station in Kolkata received a complaint from a cricket enthusiast, who alleged collusion between online ticketing platform Bookmyshow and officials from the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

The complaint accused certain BCCI and CAB officials, in coordination with Bookmyshow, of reserving a substantial number of tickets designated for the general public, subsequently making these tickets available to black-market dealers for personal profit.

In light of the complaint, Maidan Police Station registered a case, and an investigation is underway. Kolkata Police had issued notices to CAB and Bookmyshow, asking them to be presnt at Maidan Police Station to assist in the investigation.

The CAB official were notified to appear on Thursday, November 2, along wirth a concerned official from Bookmyshow to join the ongoing investigation.
