Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday launched a scathing attack on Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, criticizing him for his political ambitions and reminding him that the 'INDIA' alliance did not designate him as the convenor of the opposition bloc. Speaking at a rally in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, Shah said "These are people running family shops, one wants to become the Prime Minister and the other wants to make his son the Chief Minister. I want to tell both of that Nitish Kumar forget about the PM post the INDI alliance did not make you the convener. You don't belong anywhere...".

Shah further highlighted the contrasting priorities of the BJP and the Bihar government saying,  "There are two types of 'JAM'. For BJP, JAM - Jan Dhan account, Aadhaar and Mobile. For the Bihar government, JAM - 'Jativad' and 'Parivarvad', 'Apradh', and Minority appeasement". He emphasized the BJP's commitment to the welfare of backward classes, contrasting it with the Congress's historical opposition to such groups.

The Bihar government recently released the results of a caste-based survey, revealing that OBCs make up 63% of the state's population, with the extremely backward classes constituting the largest social segment. Shah also accused the INDI alliance of having a single agenda to oppose PM Modi and alleged corruption of ₹12 Lakh crore during their time in power.

Last year, Nitish Kumar terminated the alliance with the BJP for the second time in nine years, choosing to align with the Rashtriya Janata Dal to remain in power.
