In preparation for the highly anticipated second semifinal match of the ICC Cricket World Cup scheduled at Eden Gardens Stadium on Thursday, the Kolkata Metro Authority has announced special metro services to facilitate the transportation of cricket enthusiasts. The match, set for 16th November, will witness a face-off between cricket giants Australia and South Africa, intensifying the excitement of fans eager to see which team secures a coveted spot in the finals.
Recognizing the significance of this sporting event, the Kolkata Metro Authority has taken the proactive step of organizing two special metro trains to operate after the match's conclusion, ensuring a smooth and efficient return for spectators to their respective destinations.
According to sources from the Metro Railway, the special metro services will commence post-match, with one train departing for Dakshineswar and another for Kavi Subhash station from Esplanade station at approximately 10:45 pm. Both these special trains will make stops at all stations along the route, aiming to provide a convenient and timely transportation option for the passionate cricket fans attending the semifinal clash at Eden Gardens. This initiative reflects the city's commitment to enhancing the overall experience for spectators attending major sporting events and contributes to the seamless management of large crowds during such occasions.
