IBM ceases advertising on X amidst concerns over Elon Musk's antisemitic content

Tech giant IBM has ceased advertising on X, Elon Musk's social media platform, due to Musk's endorsement of far-right viewpoints and association with posts promoting antisemitism. The non-profit organization Media Matters highlighted the issue, pointing out that as Musk delves into white nationalist and antisemitic conspiracy theories, major brands like Apple, Bravo (NBCUniversal), Oracle, and Xfinity (Comcast) had ads placed next to content glorifying Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party on X.

Despite CEO Linda Yaccarino's assertion that brands are protected from associating with toxic posts on the platform, IBM took a stand, stating that it has suspended all advertising on X while investigating the "entirely unacceptable situation."

Yaccarino has been trying to bring advertisers back to the platform by claiming it's safe for business. She also claimed that X (formerly Twitter) has been "demonstrating its absolute commitment to combating antisemitism on the platform" and that "antisemitism is evil and X will always work to fight it on our platform."

The report highlights that corporate advertisements have been appearing on pro-Hitler, Holocaust denial, white nationalist, pro-violence, and neo-Nazi accounts amid the chaos caused by Musk.
